Who is selling it, and whether the geography holds up

16 sellers have a 2 August 2027 eclipse product in Egypt, 12 of them on the Nile. We took the claim each one makes about where you will be standing and checked it against the NASA path table.

This is a geometry check and nothing else. It is not a review, not a ranking and not advice about which trip is good. We have not travelled with any of these companies, we take no commission from any of them, and a company can be excellent and still have loose wording on a web page.

The claims, checked

4check out against the path
1overstated
1wrong
2do not say where the boat will be

The last group is the largest and it is the one to watch. A page that never states a position on the morning of 2 August is not making a false claim. It is also not making a checkable one, and on a Cairo to Cairo or a Luxor to Aswan itinerary the position is the entire question.

Egypt Escapes Wrong
"wherever you are on a Nile cruise will be excellent ... the greatest eclipse totality will be experienced between El Quseir on the Red Sea and Aswan"

Aswan is outside the path. A cruise at Aswan on 2 August 2027 sees a partial eclipse. "Wherever you are on a Nile cruise" also takes in the whole river south of Daraw and north of Asyut, none of which is in the path.

Quoted from the seller's own page, read 13 September 2026. Pages change; this is what it said that day.

Zugvogel Touristik Overstated
"Sie erleben dieses seltene Ereignis an einem Standort direkt auf der Mittellinie der Totalitaetszone" you will experience this rare event at a location directly on the centre line of the zone of totality

The centre line crosses the Nile near Sohag and Nag Hammadi, well north of Luxor. This is a Luxor to Aswan dahabiya. Luxor is inside the path and slightly north of the centre line, which is close, but it is not on it. The difference is worth a few seconds of totality, not the event, so the claim is imprecise rather than damaging.

Quoted from the seller's own page, read 13 September 2026. Pages change; this is what it said that day.

Nile Cruisers Checks out
"Luxor ... lies directly in the path of totality"

Luxor is inside the path, about 6 min 22 sec of totality, slightly north of the centre line.

Quoted from the seller's own page, read 13 September 2026. Pages change; this is what it said that day.

Classic Holidays Checks out
"You will experience the eclipse in the Luxor area, close to the point of greatest eclipse."

The point of greatest eclipse is about 60 km southeast of Luxor, in desert. "Close to" is accurate. "At" would not have been.

Quoted from the seller's own page, read 13 September 2026. Pages change; this is what it said that day.

Sky & Telescope Checks out
"just to the southeast of our viewing sites in Luxor"

Matches the NASA position for greatest eclipse exactly.

Quoted from the seller's own page, read 13 September 2026. Pages change; this is what it said that day.

Viking Cannot be checked
"experience this extraordinary celestial event from the comfort of your ship, as she glides along the Nile through the heart of Egypt"

The page does not say where the ship will be on the morning of 2 August. On a Cairo to Cairo itinerary that is the only question that matters, because most of that river is outside the path. Not a false claim. Not a checkable one either.

Quoted from the seller's own page, read 13 September 2026. Pages change; this is what it said that day.

Dimsum Reisen Checks out
"Tag 4: (2. August 2027) Luxor - Sonnenfinsternis!" Day 4, 2 August 2027, Luxor, solar eclipse

The itinerary starts at Aswan on 30 July and places the boat at Luxor on eclipse day, which is the right way round. An Aswan start is only a problem if the boat is still there on the second.

Quoted from the seller's own page, read 13 September 2026. Pages change; this is what it said that day.

Astro Trails Cannot be checked
"observing the eclipse from the comfort of the Nile Cruise boat or the area around the private dock it will be moored at"

A Luxor to Aswan cruise. Which end of it the boat is at on 2 August decides whether guests see totality or a deep partial, and the page does not say.

Quoted from the seller's own page, read 13 September 2026. Pages change; this is what it said that day.

11 of the 16 publish no headline price at all. Of those that do: the lowest is $3,185 per person, for an eclipse-only land tour with no cruise. The highest is $11,280 per person on a double basis, for a dahabiya charter package.

These two numbers are not comparable and neither is most of this table. One is a per person share of a 14 night package with flights. One is a surcharge, not a price. One is a per person rate on a double cabin. We print the currency the seller published and the basis the seller sells on, we convert nothing, and we never divide a package total into a nightly rate. The same rule governs the rates page for the rest of the site.

Prices and availability read 13 September 2026. This is the fastest-moving table on the site: eclipse inventory reprices and sells out, and some of these were already showing waitlists when we read them.

What to ask before you book any of them

Five questions. The first one answers the whole thing, and a seller who cannot answer it in a sentence has not thought about it.

  • Where exactly will the boat be at 13:05 local on Monday 2 August 2027? A town name, not a region.
  • Is that position north of Daraw? If the answer involves Aswan, the answer is a partial eclipse.
  • Is the mooring confirmed and held, or is it intended? Nobody yet knows what the river traffic and mooring rules will be that morning.
  • What happens if the boat cannot reach that position. Which written fallback applies, and is anything refundable?
  • Are ISO 12312-2 filters provided for everyone on board, and how many spares?

We are not going to tell you which of these to book, because we have not been on any of them and because we do not take money from any of them. What we can tell you is which answers are geometrically possible. That is on the eclipse page.
