Kemet

Dahabiya. Operated by Kemetale (founders Mohamed Hassan & Ahmed El Leissy).

Sailing, two sources  checked 12 Sep 2026

Our view

high comfort

The inclusions list here is the most generous of any dahabiya in this collection and it is the operator's own, which makes it the strongest thing on the record. Everything a sceptical buyer would check is missing: no build year, no rate, no pool answer, and no mention of air conditioning anywhere, which we would settle by email before paying. This is a boat sold on atmosphere, and it may well deserve to be, but you are buying it on trust.

Who it suits

  • A group taking the whole boat, which is also how children of any age get on board
  • Travellers who want a private guide for the entire cruise rather than a shared one
  • Anyone who wants three to seven nights rather than a fixed five
  • Guests who want the whole boat's facilities included

Who it does not suit

  • Anyone who needs air conditioning confirmed, no page and no brochure mentions it and on a dahabiya that silence matters
  • Families booking a single room, the operator takes children from 12 unless you book the whole boat
  • Anyone who wants a price, nothing the operator controls publishes one and the only figures on the site are cancellation fees
  • Travellers who want hard specification, the operator has no build year, no refit year, no pool answer and no accessibility statement anywhere
  • Guests who expect alcohol, it is excluded
Service style
Owner run sailing boat with 15 crew for 19 guests, a private Egyptologist for the whole cruise and a host on board, sold as dated trips rather than a weekly schedule.
The cabin we would book
One of the eight suites, and ask which of them has the air conditioning question answered. The operator names every suite in its brochure and describes none of them by size.
Nearest alternative: Princess Farida
Two owner run 55 metre boats with eight suites and a similar guest count. Princess Farida publishes rates of 550 to 900 dollars per person per night and a weekly pattern. Kemet publishes neither and sells trip by trip. See its record →
Everything in this box is opinion, not a sourced fact, and we say what it rests on: desk research only, by Christoph Paterok, 12 September 2026. Nobody here has sailed this vessel. Read it as a careful reading of the published record, which is what it is.

What we could not establish

Every empty cell above has a reason. These are the reasons for this vessel, written down at the time the record was made, including the places where published sources contradict each other.

Kemet is the name of the hull. Kemetale is the company name. The operator's own Nile Sailing page refers to "our dahabeya sailboat, named Kemet", and the founders trade as Kemetale. Third-party listings use the two names loosely. Tripadvisor lists the boat under the company name Kemetale, which is why that spelling appears as an alternative name for the vessel.

No rate is published on any page the operator controls. The reservations site prices trips only after an inquiry. Corinthian Travel shows a charter price guide of three dollar signs with no figure attached. The operator's FAQ implies that charter and room pricing are separate, because its cancellation fees differ: 3,000 USD for a charter booking and 300 USD for a room booking. Those are cancellation fees, not rates. A third-party activity listing was seen at 3,333 USD per adult for five days and four nights, but it does not name the vessel, so it was not used.

Air conditioning is not mentioned on any page or in the 2026 brochure. This is a material omission for a dahabiya.

No source we read gives a build year, a launch year, a refit year, a flag, a registration, a pool, or any accessibility statement. The FAQ does not address mobility at all.

No fixed weekly departure pattern is published. The booking site works from individually dated trips, so no departure days could be established.

Egitalloyd carries a Kemet page whose suite names and descriptions are word for word those in the operator's brochure. It was treated as the same source and not counted as independent corroboration.

The operator's own pages are thin on specification. Almost every hard number we found comes from the 2026 brochure PDF or from Corinthian Travel.
