Our view
This is a class record and not a hull, which is the honest way to describe eight ships built to one specification in four years. The product is the most standardised on the Nile and that is the point of it: you know what you are getting and you will not be surprised. Take the adults only rule and the accessibility wording in Viking's own ticket contract seriously, because both are firm and both are stated by Viking rather than inferred by us.

- Anyone who wants a cruise only rate, the published figures are per person totals for a twelve day package with four Cairo hotel nights and the internal flights
- Guests who need a specific date, Viking's 2026 and 2027 Nile pages are heavily marked sold out

What we could not establish
Every empty cell above has a reason. These are the reasons for this vessel, written down at the time the record was made, including the places where published sources contradict each other.
This record covers a class, not a single hull. The hulls identified as identical sister ships are the Viking Osiris (2022), Viking Aton (2023), Viking Hathor (2024), Viking Sobek (2024 or 2025), Viking Amun (2025), Viking Thoth (2025), Viking Sekhmet (2026) and Viking Ptah (2026). Every class specification in this record applies to all hulls and is stated as such in each note. Two further names, Viking Geb and Viking Anubis, appear on Viking's Egypt fleet page and in CruiseMapper's sister ship list but in no Viking press release we read, so their delivery status is unknown and they are not counted here. The Viking Ra (2018) and the chartered MS Antares also sail for Viking on the Nile and are not part of this class. They require their own records or an explicit exclusion.
Sobek's delivery year is contradictory. Viking's press release of 22 August 2022 states she was due in 2025. The naming release of 5 November 2024 treats her as a 2024 delivery. CruiseMapper records her as built 2025. The class launch year of 2022 is unaffected, as it reflects the lead ship.
The starting rate and top rate are not recorded here. The only published figures are 6,999 US dollars and 10,999 US dollars per person, for the Pharaohs and Pyramids and Total Eclipse on the Nile programmes respectively. Both are 12-day packages that bundle four hotel nights in Cairo, seven ship nights and flights between Cairo and Luxor. Dividing either figure by seven ship nights would load hotel and air costs onto the ship rate. Recording a per-person package price as a per-cabin rate would misstate it. No money value is therefore recorded. The most accurate way to cite a price is 6,999 US dollars per person for the full programme, described in those terms.
Departure days are not recorded. The hulls do not share a single weekly pattern. CruiseMapper shows the Viking Sobek departing Cairo on Tuesdays, including 1 and 8 September 2026 and 30 March 2027, and the Viking Osiris departing on Wednesday 2 September 2026. Viking's own departure tables are published in a script that does not render, so no pattern could be confirmed from the operator directly.
The operating season is not recorded for the same reason. CruiseMapper's schedule for the Viking Sobek runs monthly from September 2026 to June 2027 and resumes in August 2027, suggesting a July gap, but a single aggregator schedule is not sufficient to state a season with certainty.
The flag and registration are not recorded. Neither Viking nor CruiseMapper publishes a flag or registry for any hull. All hulls were built at the Massara yard in Cairo and are operated by Viking River Cruises Egypt.
The refit year is not recorded. The oldest hull is four years old and no source we read mentions a refit.
The charter rate and charter minimum are not recorded. Viking publishes no charter offer for its Nile ships. Its FAQ portal did not render, so we could not check there either.
Awards are not recorded. Search results credit the Viking Osiris with a place in Condé Nast Traveler's Hot List 2023 and Forbes' Best Luxury River Cruise 2023, and the Viking Aton with the Hot List 2024, but neither Viking press release we retrieved carries those lines and no source URL supports them. The awards Viking does print in its releases are company-level, such as the number one ranking for Rivers in the Condé Nast Traveler 2024 Readers' Choice Awards. Those are not ship awards.
Viking's 2026 and 2027 Nile pricing pages are heavily marked as sold out, with a prompt to call for availability.
