Lazuli Karnak

Dahabiya. Operated by Lazuli, though we have not verified that ownership from a primary source.

Not verified as sailing  checked 12 Sep 2026

We have not confirmed that this vessel is currently in service. That is a statement about our checking, not a claim that it has stopped.

Our view

comfortable

A cheap dahabiya from a fleet whose own website cannot agree with itself on how many boats it has. The rate is published and the route is clear, and beyond that almost nothing about this hull is documented by the company that runs it. Book it through an advisor who has seen it, and get the operating status confirmed before you pay.

Who it suits

  • Travellers who want a ten cabin boat at a low per person rate
  • Anyone who wants three, four or five nights on the Esna to Aswan stretch
  • Guests happy to book through an advisor

Who it does not suit

  • Anyone who wants to read about the boat, it has no page of its own and is named once in a fleet list on the operator's French site
  • Travellers who check who owns what, the legal notices name a company and never say which hulls it owns
  • Anyone who needs current evidence that it sails, the status here is unverified and no dated recent review was reachable
  • Guests who want a pool, there is none
  • Travellers who take the operator's fleet figures seriously, the same site says eight dahabiyas while naming eleven on the same page
Service style
Sailing boat inside a Cairo company's dahabiya fleet, sold through advisors and aggregators rather than from a page of its own.
The cabin we would book
One of the two suites. The operator publishes nothing that separates the ten cabins, so the suites are the only distinction on the record.
Nearest alternative: Lazuli Luxor
Two boats in the same small fleet at the same published rate. Karnak is the larger at ten cabins and two suites. Luxor is five cabins and one suite for ten guests. Neither has a page of its own. See its record →
Everything in this box is opinion, not a sourced fact, and we say what it rests on: desk research only, by Christoph Paterok, 12 September 2026. Nobody here has sailed this vessel. Read it as a careful reading of the published record, which is what it is.
Published rate
$370 per person, per night

Shown in the currency the operator published it in, on the basis the operator sells it on. We do not convert currencies and we do not divide a package total into a nightly rate, because both would produce a number nobody quoted. See how this compares on the rates page.

What we could not establish

Every empty cell above has a reason. These are the reasons for this vessel, written down at the time the record was made, including the places where published sources contradict each other.

This boat has no page of its own. The French operator homepage at lazulinil.com names Karnak in its fleet list. The English domain lazulinile.com is the same company at the same Cairo address, but its fleet page names only Albatros. The operator's own page cited for this vessel is therefore the French homepage.

The operator contradicts itself on fleet size. The French homepage now says a fleet of 8 dahabiehs while naming 11 boats on the same page. A different page on the same site gave 9 dahabiehs. Three figures appear on one site.

Ownership is not verified at hull level. Both legal notices pages, https://lazulinil.com/mentions-legales/ and https://lazulinile.com/legal-notices.html, give the company as Lazuli, Egyptian trade registry number 525740783, registered at Abbrag El Moltakka, Abbasseya Square, Cairo, capital 1 million Egyptian pounds, manager Yasmina Tawfik. Neither page names which hulls the company owns. Cazenove+Loyd names Wally Aziz, an Egyptian entrepreneur and former Egyptologist guide, as the founder, and the English site carries a Wally Aziz Group logo. That points to a group structure behind the Lazuli brand. The operator is recorded as Lazuli.

No vessel flag or registry number appears on either legal notices page, on any operator page, or on any third-party listing we read. The flag and registration are therefore not recorded.

No launch year is recorded for this vessel. Cazenove+Loyd states that the fleet was launched on the Nile in 2001. That date refers to the fleet, not to this hull.

No departure days are recorded. One aggregator publishes a weekly pattern of Sunday and Monday departures from Esna and Friday from Aswan. No operator page publishes any weekly pattern, and we record only operator-published patterns.

Web search was unavailable during this research session, which limited the search for a dated guest review within the past six months to pages already known. Fleewinter returned HTTP 403 and could not be read.

Recorded 12 September 2026. If you can settle any of these, tell us and we will correct the record in public.
