Poppee

Dahabiya. Operated by Nour El Nil.

Sailing, two sources  checked 12 Sep 2026

Our view

high comfort

Poppee sits in the middle of this fleet's newer half and has everything those hulls have, including the four guest Deluxe Suites. Against Roman it is one year newer for 500 euros more, which is the entire difference. It is the sort of boat where the choice comes down to which week is free rather than which vessel is better.

Who it suits

  • Families of four, the Deluxe Suites take four guests
  • Travellers who want a 60 metre hull
  • Anyone who wants a 2024 build below the fleet's top price
  • Groups of up to 24 taking the whole boat

Who it does not suit

  • Anyone who came for quiet, 24 guests is the fullest this fleet gets
  • Wheelchair users and anyone who cannot manage stairs
  • Guests who want a pool, none is mentioned anywhere and swimming is in the river
  • Anyone who wants to know whether tips are included, the operator says included on the booking card and not included in one of its own FAQ articles
  • Travellers who want a price above the entry room, only a starting rate per room is published
Service style
Family run crewed sailing boat leaving Esna on Mondays for a fixed five night route, sold direct only, with one guide for the whole boat.
The cabin we would book
A Deluxe Suite. It takes four guests and is the only room type in this fleet built for a family rather than a couple.
Nearest alternative: Roman
Two nearly identical boats a year apart, both around 60 metres with 10 rooms, 24 guests and Deluxe Suites. Poppee is the 2024 build at 6,800 euros, Roman the 2023 build at 6,300. See its record →
Everything in this box is opinion, not a sourced fact, and we say what it rests on: desk research only, by Christoph Paterok, 12 September 2026. Nobody here has sailed this vessel. Read it as a careful reading of the published record, which is what it is.
Published rate
€6,800 per cabin, whole cruise

Shown in the currency the operator published it in, on the basis the operator sells it on. We do not convert currencies and we do not divide a package total into a nightly rate, because both would produce a number nobody quoted. See how this compares on the rates page.

Accessibility notes
The operator states its dahabiyas are multi level boats connected by stairs with no elevators, and that crew help guests move between decks. It also states that many Egyptian sites have uneven ground and stairs, that guests are driven close to sites where possible, and that anyone who prefers to skip a site can stay on board.

What we could not establish

Every empty cell above has a reason. These are the reasons for this vessel, written down at the time the record was made, including the places where published sources contradict each other.

The operator's own page for Poppee resolves correctly and was not changed.

No refit year is published for Poppee on the operator site or its FAQ. The FAQ mentions a fleet-wide upgrade to solar-powered air conditioning but gives no year, so this cannot be treated as a refit date. The boat was built in 2024, which also makes a refit year unlikely at this stage.

No crew count, deck count, flag, or registration is published for Poppee anywhere on the operator site or its FAQ.

The operator publishes rates only as a starting figure per room. No upper rate or charter rate appears anywhere we read.

No pool or plunge pool is mentioned on the boat page, in the booking card amenity list, or in any guest account we read. Swimming appears to take place in the Nile. However, no source states explicitly that there is no pool, so we have not recorded the answer as none.

The operator contradicts itself on tipping. One booking card and one FAQ article describe tips as included. A separate FAQ article describes them as excluded. We have not resolved this contradiction.

The two age-policy tables published in the operator's FAQ disagree on the composition of the fleet. One lists a 2025 boat as TBD and does not mention Dendera or Assouan. The other adds Dendera 2026 and Assouan 2005. Both tables agree that Poppee was built in 2024.

Recorded 12 September 2026. If you can settle any of these, tell us and we will correct the record in public.
