Nobody publishes what these boats actually are. So we are.

46 luxury vessels sail the Nile or are about to. The pages that rank for them are written by the people selling them. This is a record of the same 46 boats with every claim sourced and dated, kept by someone who sells nothing.

It is incomplete and it says exactly where. Every empty cell below is a fact we could not source, shown rather than hidden, and each one has a written reason on what we could not establish.

Someone reads a source, records the URL, and the source is archived the same minute. If we cannot source it, it stays empty.

The questions everyone actually asks

Which company should I book?

The honest answer is that the question is wrong. On the Nile you are not choosing a company, you are choosing one hull. Nour El Nil runs nine boats and they are not interchangeable. Oberoi runs two and they are different products. A&K sells vessels it does not own. Pick the boat, then find out who sells it.

The split that matters first is class. A dahabiya is a sailing boat with 6 to 12 cabins that moors at sandbanks. A small river ship is a hotel with an engine and a fixed dock schedule. They are different holidays at similar prices.

What does it cost?

20 of these 46 vessels publish a rate we could source. The rest publish nothing, or publish a package total that bundles flights and hotels. We file neither as a cruise price.

The 20 that do publish use three currencies and three different bases, so a single sorted column of prices would be a lie. The rates page groups them by what the money actually buys. We never convert and we never divide a package into a nightly rate.

What about the 2027 eclipse?

On 2 August 2027 the moon's shadow crosses Egypt, and the stretch of river it covers runs from north of Asyut down to a point between Kom Ombo and Aswan. Aswan itself is outside it and sees a partial eclipse only, which matters because that is where most cruises start or end.

Which part of the Nile is actually in the path, with every figure checked against the NASA path table, and what the sellers are claiming checked against the same.

What this page is not

Not a booking engine and not a shortlist of favourites. The boats are ordered by how much we can currently prove about them, which is a statement about our work rather than about the boats. Sort it however you like.

It is also not a claim that every boat here is sailing. 19 are confirmed in service by two independent sources, 8 by one, and 19 we have not confirmed at all. Each card says which. A boat is never recorded as sailing because no news said otherwise.

An 1899 iron hulled boat for seven people, which is a genuinely unusual thing to be able to book, and simple is the right word for it rather than a criticism. The unanswered question is air conditioning, because the site describes its facilities carefully and never mentions any. Confirm that and the current operating season by email before you go further, because nothing on the site shows a bookable date.

A 2022 hull with a reasonable specification that you cannot buy as a cruise, only as a ten day package with flights and hotels. That is the seller's model rather than a fault in the boat, but it makes any comparison with the per night prices elsewhere in this collection meaningless. Adelaide sits in the newer half of the Nour El Nil fleet without being the most expensive part of it. The Deluxe Suites are the real reason to choose her, and the 24 guest capacity is the real reason not to if you came for quiet. We have not sailed her, and the independent record on this hull is thin enough that the operator's own calendar is better evidence than any review you will find.

El Nil is the cheapest way onto this operator's route and the operator describes it as its most traditional boat, which is a fair way of saying the smallest cabins and the oldest fit-out. The crew, the food and the itinerary are the fleet's, so what you give up is room rather than experience. One thing to check before you book: the boat appeared in a single bookable week in September 2026 while sister boats showed three, which may be demand and may be something else.

In practice you cannot currently buy it, because its only seller has no Egypt departures on sale and publishes no route or duration for it. The restoration is the whole proposition here, an Art Deco mural kept and marble bathrooms fitted, and the owner describes it in detail without ever dating it. Booking runs through a hotel desk on a UAE number, which is unusual and worth knowing before you start. Twenty two crew for twelve guests is the number that defines this boat and it is A&K's own figure. It is also the only vessel in their Egypt fleet they will not print a price for, which tells you it is sold by conversation rather than by rate card. The catch is not the boat, it is everything sold in its name: several agencies advertise five and seven day versions of a trip the operator says it only runs as three and four nights and only sells direct. AmaDahlia does the mainstream Egypt river cruise competently and sells it as a package rather than as a cruise, which makes it hard to compare on price with anything else here. The absence of a lift on a five deck ship is the fact most likely to catch a guest out, and to the operator's credit it says so plainly. Zahra is the flagship of the two Oberoi ships and the more awarded of them, with a named Egyptian ministry award from 2009 and 2012 and a readers' ranking in 2025 and 2026. A 1918 hull with a hotel brand on it, a pool and 65 crew, which makes it the more conventional of the two Nile steamers to travel on. The Sudan is the one vessel in this collection you would book for the hull itself rather than for the route. Why cells are empty

Because we have not checked them yet. 998 facts are on file out of 1601 that apply. An empty cell is an honest statement about our progress. A filled cell with no source would not be.

Why one card can be several ships

Where an operator runs identical sister ships built to one design, they share a single record and every ship name is printed on it. Eight cards with the same numbers on them would pad this page and compare nothing. Where two boats differ, they get two records, however similar the marketing makes them sound.

Why some values say "last verified"

Each field has a shelf life. Prices go stale at 180 days, operating details at 270, announced launch dates at 60. Past that the value stays visible, carries its date, and stops being sortable. Nothing is silently deleted.

Facts and opinions are not the same thing

Anything with a number, a date or a name is a fact and carries a source. Anything comparative is our view, sits in its own box, and says what it rests on.
